Liv Rio and Phoenix Fashion week.
Posted on June 01 2017
Liv Rio is thrilled to announce that we will be one of the featured designers participating in #DESIGNERBOOTCAMP 2017 as part of Phoenix Fashion Week 2017. Phoenix Fashion Week recently concluded a global tour of the Philippines, Mexico, Africa, San Francisco, Los Angeles, St. Louis, San Diego, Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta, Tucson, Phoenix, Denver and more in search of the next “IT” apparel and accessory designers to launch their brands during #PHXFashionWeek at Talking Stick Resort October 4-7, 2017. We are beyond excited for this new opportunity and I wanted to take a minute just to share the journey about how we ended up in the competition.
Everything started at the end of November, 2016, when I asked Neide Hall (Founder, Charmosa Swimwear) to introduce me to Brian Hill and his team at PFW. Neide introduced me to the team and put in a good word about Liv Rio which lead to my first phone interview. Once that was complete I was required to send the team information on the company, our back story, our success to date, our operations processes and anything else you can think of. After that they interviewed the 500+ designers that applied to be a part of PFW. At the conclusion of an exhausting 4-month journey they invited 19 designers (of which Liv Rio is one) to participate in this year’s competition.
How does PFW works?
So PFW is not just a fashion show. It’s a 3-month bootcamp and competition where the winner becomes the designer of the year.
Every week they will send us assignments to do, we will have classes, and homework and the designers they see showing the most improvement and garnering the most success for their business will be rewarded with points.
The competition is all about how to build a better brand, improve sales, talk to customers and buyers and turn your idea or designs into a truly successful business.
All the brands that I know that have come through PFW are doing amazing, and to see how they grew after the show is incredible. I’m so inspired to follow in their footsteps and learn from those people.
What the competition means for Liv Rio?
This is the best part. I get to start working with Brian Hill and his team on a regular basis and learn all the ins and outs of creating a successful designer brand. The PFW team will also help us with access to significant press, as well as fashion bloggers, TV opportunities, newspapers, magazines, etc. This is an incredible opportunity to grow Liv Rio faster and more effectively than I ever could have hoped for. For the first-time Liv Rio will have an audience in the Millions instead of just be limited to my friends, family and local area.
We also get a chance to win $10k as part of the competition, and the grand finale is a premiere Fashion show in October in front of buyers from major stores from around the country.
I hope you are all as excited as the team here at Liv Rio. We could not have gotten this far without you and hope that you will join us as we take this amazingly wild and exciting ride as part of Phoenix Fashion Week. Getting here was easy (not really) but winning (which I 100% intend to do) is the hard part and I will need each of you in my corner over the next few months.
